Lara Gut & Merida: a Lifelong Passion for Cycling
For Swiss ski champion Lara Gut, cycling has always been more than just a sport—it’s a passion that started when she was a child. In our latest video for Merida, we had the chance to capture her love for two wheels and how cycling seamlessly fits into her lifestyle.
A decorated alpine ski racer, Lara Gut has achieved remarkable success in her career, winning multiple World Cup titles, including the Overall World Cup in 2016, and securing Olympic medals. She is known for her powerful skiing style and versatility across disciplines, making her one of the most prominent figures in the sport.
Spending part of her time in Lugano, where her family still lives, Lara has always felt deeply connected to her hometown. Whether navigating through the city streets, running errands, heading to the gym, or even reaching the starting points for her hiking adventures, cycling has been a reliable and enjoyable way to move around.
While Lara doesn’t see cycling as part of her structured training for skiing, she enjoys riding for the freedom it provides. She particularly loves downhill riding with her Merida e-bike, which allows her to climb effortlessly and fully enjoy the thrill of the descent.
Through this collaboration with Merida, we see a different side of Lara—one where cycling is not just about performance but about passion, freedom, and the joy of movement. Watch the full video and discover how one of the world’s top ski athletes embraces cycling in her everyday life!
